Portrait of George Orwell

It's sunday, so let's keep today post short

unfortunately I don't read nearly as much as I possibly should as most of my "off time" is filled with painting, however, I do listen to a TON of Audiobooks so I do still consume literature quite a bit in that way.

Some time ago I decided to paint a little portrait of the authors every time I finish listening to a book and I came to really love this little ritual. It let's me stay with the book for quite a bit more instead of just setting it aside and then to forget it. This can actually be quite an intense experience, depending on the nature of the book of course.

"1884" by George Orwell is an incredibly intense, gut and heart wrenching book. I come back to it every 3-4 years, and I just finished it again. It's deeply sadening that it does seem to get more and more relevant with each go around and thus it get's harder to listen to every time as well. Especially today I think that everybody should know that book and if you are like me and you like listening to it, I can highly reccomend the version availabe on Audible read by Andrew Wincott.

This painting is also available in my online store. Feel free to grab it if you like it!
